Monoskey Named Track & Field Female Outdoor Athlete Of The Year

ERIE, Pa. – Katie Monoskey was named the Mason Dixon Conference's (MDC) 2011 Outstanding Outdoor Female Field Athlete of the Year after her performances at the conference championships held at Christopher Newport, this weekend.

Monoskey was instrumental in Penn State Behrend's third place showing at the championships. She won the discus throw by launching 118' (35.97m) and then was victorious in the hammer throw, tossing a distance of 127' 10" (38.96m).

Only a junior, the four-time Behrend record holder is revered as one of the most accomplished Lion athletes in school history. Monsokey, a two-time women's outdoor track and field team MVP was recently recognized for her academic achievements, being inducted in to the National Athletic Honor Society.

Monoskey is the first athlete from Behrend to receive a MDC Athlete of the Year award.
