Lions Picked First in AMCC Preseason Poll

ERIE, Pa. – After earning the regular-season championship and coming in second place in the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) a year ago, the Penn State Behrend volleyball team was picked to finish first in the 2013 AMCC preseason poll.

The Lions were chosen to lead the league, voted on by the conference's 10 head volleyball coaches. Medaille, the defending AMCC Champions, were picked second while Franciscan came in third.

Senior captain and setter Chelsea Magnusen (Plum, PA/Plum) was also selected the AMCC Preseason Player of the Year. Magnusen, a two-time All-AMCC choice, led the conference last year in assists and was third in attack percentage. She became just the fourth player in program history to reach 2,000 assists for her career.

The volleyball team opens the season at the Westminster Tournament on Friday, August 30.
