Lions Ranked Third in Mideast Region

ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's track and field team is currently ranked third in the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) Division III Mideast Region.

This is the highest ranking for the Lions in program history.

The announcement comes on the heels of a spectacular performance by Behrend at the California University (PA) Early Bird Meet on March 22.

The Lions took the top spot in seven events – Luke Patten (West Middlesex, PA/West Middlesex) won the pole vault, Mitchell Obenrader (Fryburg, PA/North Clarion) took the javelin, Anthony Bauccio (Monroeville, PA/Gateway) finished first in the shot put, Malik Moffett-Pulliam (Erie, PA/Cathedral Prep) took the high jump, and the group of Matthew Grafton (Worthington, PA/Kittanning), Kevin Lai (Ridgewood, NJ/Ridgewood), Geoffrey Faltot (Mercer, PA/Mercer), and Moffett-Pulliam won the 4x100 meter relay.

In addition, Moffett-Pulliam won the 100 and 200 meter dash. In doing so, the freshman set two new Behrend indoor records.

The Lions will travel to Carnegie Mellon on Saturday, April 5 at 10 a.m.
