Behrend Women's Track & Field Competes at John Homon Open

ALLIANCE, Ohio – The Penn State Behrend women's track & field team had three first-place finishes at the John Homon Open hosted by Mt. Union on Friday.

Key Moments:

* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) hit an AARTFC qualifying time in the 5K race, winning in 18:26.91
* In her 10K debut, Bethany Litwiler (Reynolds, PA/Reynolds) won with a time of 42:18.91
* Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) won the javelin once again on Thursday with a toss of 37.66m
* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) finished fourth in a pair of events, running the 1500m in an AARTFC qualifying time of 4:51.50 and then 2:21.90 in the 800m
* In the pole vault, Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) was third with a height of 3.08m and also took sixth in the 100m (13.05)
* Shannon Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) led in the high jump with a fifth-place finish (1.45m) and also took seventh in the long jump (4.43m)
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was the top finisher for Behrend in the 200m and 400m, placing sixth in the 200m (27.53) and seventh in the 400m (1:02.55)
* Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry) finished the 400m hurdles in sixth place with a time of 1:13.69
