ERIE, Pa. – Junior Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) won four events to lead the Penn State Behrend women's track & field team at the Behrend Invitational on Sunday.
Key Moments:
* The Behrend Lions won 14 events on the day with Kappeler capturing the most for an individual
* Kappeler started out with a win in the 100m (13.17) and the 200m (27.14), before winning the pole vault (3.25m) and the long jump (5.09m)
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) placed first in the 400m (1:01.48), followed by Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) in the 1500m with a time of 4:50.54 for first place
* In the 5000m event, Lindsay Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) came out on top with a time of 20:05.84
* Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry) was victorious in the 100m hurdles in (17.20) and Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) posted a time of 12:02.63 to win the 3000m
* Behrend placed first in six field events, starting with Shannon Burns (Jefferson, OH/Jefferson) with a height of 1.52m in the high jump
* Kappeler registered two wins, while Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) won the shot put with a distance of 10.84m
* Emma Whiteman (Erie, PA/Harbor Creek) was first in the discus (29.43m) and Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) collected the final first place in the javelin (36.08m)
