Nola, Balaski Break CSAC Meet Records; Women's Track & Field in First Place

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Penn State Behrend outdoor women's track & field team broke two Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship meet records and sit in first place after day of competition on Saturday.

Team Scores: Penn State Behrend 78, Alfred State 53, Cedar Crest 27, Gallaudet 18, Keystone 2

Key Moments:

* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) and Julia Balaski (Mercer, PA/Mercer) won the 1500m and the javelin, respectively, to break the championship meet records
* The Lions went 1-2-4-5 in the 1500m event, led by Nola for a new program record and a championship meet record with a time of 4:39.44
* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) came in second, followed by Lindsay Hartle (Pittsburgh, PA/Avonworth) in fourth and Emily Ferrans (Bradfordwoods, PA/North Allegheny) in fourth
* Balaski set a new championship meet record in the javelin with a throw of 36.57m, breaking the old mark of 35.31m
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) won two events on the day for Behrend
* Kappeler was the repeat champion in the pole vault (3.10m) an also won the 100m (13.20)
* Noelani Takei (Fremont, CA/Irvington) was second in the pole vault, Grace Jones (Union City, PA/Union City) was third and Angelina Compeggie (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) was fourth
* In the 10,000m, Bethany Litwiler (Reynolds, PA/Reynolds) won with a time of 45.29.26
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) was third in the 100m (13.43), while Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) led the Lions in the discus with a sixth-place finish (30.52m)
