Behrend Lions Capture CSAC Outdoor T&F Championships; Nola, Litwiler Individual Award Winners

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The Penn State Behrend outdoor women's track & field team captured their second straight and fifth overall Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) Championship on Sunday.

Team Scores: Penn State Behrend 253, Alfred State 207, Gallaudet 78, Cedar Crest 61, Keystone 2

Noteworthy:
* Olivia Nola (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) was named the CSAC Track Athlete of the Year
* Bethany Litwiler (Reynolds, PA/Reynolds) was named CSAC Rookie of the Year

Key Moments:

* The Lions held a 19-point lead heading into the final events
* Behrend finished 1-2-3-4 in the second to last event (5000m) to secure the win
* Nola led the field in the 5000m, winning with a time of 19:02.66 for her second win of the day
* Nola broke the 2:20 barrier in the 800m for the first time to claim the gold medal in 2:19.50
* Savanna Carr (Franklin, PA/Franklin) claimed the 3000m steeplechase with a time of 11:57.99, before finishing second in the 5000m with a time of 19:11.49
* Litwiler claimed second in the steeplechase behind Carr (12:48.61)
* Ivy Laffan (Waterford, PA/Fort LeBoeuf) placed in three events, wining the 400m in 1:00.87 and then taking third in the 200m (27.41) and fifth in the 100m (13.77)
* Madison Kappeler (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan) paced Laffan in the 100m for first place with a time of 13.33
* Kappeler also was second in the 200m (27.38) and fourth in the long jump (4.98m)
* In the final event of the day, Laffan, Angelina Compeggie (Cecil, PA/Canon-McMillan), Haley Felton (Midway, PA/Fort Cherry) and Victoria Dieterich (Oakmont, PA/Riverview) captured second in the 4x400m relay to seal the victory
* Felton also led the Lions in the 400m hurdles for a silver medal (1:13.62) and Compeggie took fourth (1:22.02)
* Behrend had the 4x100 relay also place second with a season-best time of 51.57 thanks to Felton, Laffan, Dietrich and Kappeler
* In the field events, Paige Massey (Erie, PA/McDowell) was runner up in the shot put (10.72m) and Jessica Park (East Meadows, NY/East Meadows) hit a personal-best throw in the hammer for second place
* Dietrich and Felton also competed in the 400m with Laffan, taking third and fifth, respectively
