Herzing Earns Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week; Rohrer Selected AMCC Pitcher of the Week

ERIE, Pa. – Penn State Behrend baseball sophomore pitcher Jack Herzing (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic) was selected a Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week while sophomore hurler Justin Rohrer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) was named Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Pitcher of the Week.

Herzing had a memorable performance on Monday against conference rival Penn State Altoona striking out a career-high 16 batters in a 4-1 victory. He tossed a complete game while surrendering no earned runs, three hits and only one walk.

In two relief appearances this past week, Rohrer picked up two victories while throwing 7.2 shutout innings. He allowed just six hits and punched out eight. On Monday Rohrer threw 2.2 scoreless frames against Penn State Altoona and followed up the performance with five shutout innings on Sunday against La Roche.

The Lions return to action on Tuesday when they take on AMCC foe Hilbert. The doubleheader is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.
