Zurat Completes Second Season With Class AA Rock Cats

ERIE, Pa. – Former Penn State Behrend standout and pitcher Chad Zurat completed his second season of his professional baseball career with a call up to the New Britian, Connecticut Rock Cats of the Class AA Eastern League.

The 6-2, 215-pound right-handed reliever started the year with Grand Junction of the Pioneer Rookie League and got the surprise on August 20 that he would joining the Rock Cats. In 43 innings with Grand Junction, he had a 3.77 earned run average with 17 strikeouts and 16 walks, with 10 of those occurring in three of his 17 appearances. Zurat finished with a 3-3 record on the mound and had a 9.2 inning scoreless streak over his last three appearances.

Zurat saw time in three games with New Britain and pitched 4.1 innings in the Eastern League of which the local Erie SeaWolves (Detroit Tigers AA Affiliate) also compete in.
