Baseball Lands Six on All-Conference Team

ERIE, Pa. – Six Penn State Behrend baseball players were selected to the 2015 Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) All-Conference team, announced Wednesday.

Jack Herzing (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic), Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell), Ryan Finnegan (Fombell, PA/Riverside) and Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) were selected to the second team while Justin Rohrer (Harrisburg, PA/Central Dauphin) and John Hlavinka (Venetia, PA/Peters Township) earned third-team honors.

Herzing was selected to the All-Conference squad for the first time in his career. He is currently tied for the conference-lead in wins (7), is third in strikeouts (58) and ranks fifth in ERA (2.28). The sophomore has tossed 44.2 innings allowing only 38 hits. Holding a 7-1 record in 10 appearances, he has punched out 58 while walking only 18.

For the second straight season Bohman earned All-Conference accolades. As a sophomore catcher, Bohman is hitting .368 and leads the team with 29 RBI's. His 14 extra base hits are most on the team along with his three homers and 31 runs scored.

Finnegan is on the second team for the second straight season. He is slashing .341 with a .439 OBP. At third base Finnegan has five doubles, one triple and has scored 15 runs.

In his junior campaign, Margraf leads the team with a .369 batting average to go along with 16 RBI's and one homerun. The junior was selected to the All-Conference team for the second time.

Rohrer has been effective as both a starter and a reliever posting a 5-2 record with two saves in 10 appearances. His 2.04 ERA is third in the conference and he has walked just nine in 39.2 innings pitched.

For the third straight season Hlavinka, has been named to the All-Conference squad in the outfield. He is having a great all-around season at the plate leading the team with 45 hits. He is hitting .360 with nine doubles and 23 RBI's. Hlavinka has scored 30 runs and has swiped nine bases in as many attempts.  

Behrend will square off against Mt. Aloysius on Friday at 1 p.m. in the first round of the AMCC Tournament. The winner will advance to the semifinal game Saturday at 12 p.m.
