ERIE, Pa. – Sophomore pitcher Jack Herzing (St. Marys, PA/Elk County Catholic) was named to the 2015 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III Third-Team All-Region, announced Wednesday.

Herzing is the ninth player in Behrend baseball history to be an All-Region selection. He anchored the pitching staff this season, tabbing Second Team All-Conference honors and leading the Lions to the 2015 Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Southwestern Championship.

The lefty led the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) in strikeouts (77) and finished second in ERA (2.31). Herzing boasted an 8-1 record while holding an 11.88 strikeouts-per-game mark.

His best performance came on April 6 when he went the distance against Penn State Altoona allowing no earned runs and punching 16. He was rewarded with Louisville Slugger National Player of the Week honors for his effort.

Behrend finished the season with a 28-12-1 record and won an ECAC title for the fifth time in program history.
