ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer squad has announced its team award winners for the 2013 season, voted on by members of the team.
Senior midfielder Eric Vunovic (North Huntingdon, PA/Norwin) was named team Most Valuable Player. The three-time All-Conference choice, ranked first on the team with 10 goals and six assists for 26 points. Vunovic finishes his career with 22 goals and 24 assists, becoming the first player in program history to record 20 goals and 20 assists.
Garrett Fiscus (Russell, PA/Eisenhower) was tabbed the team's Leadership/Scholarship award winner. The senior midfielder and All-AMCC second-team selection was one of four players who started all 22 games, and he ranked second on the team with seven assists.
Evan Augustine (Pittsburgh, PA/South Park) was named Rookie of the Year and sophomore Nick Stewart (Pittsburgh, PA/Keystone Oaks) earned Most Improved Player. Augustine earned a starting spot on defense this season and tallied one assist during his newcomer campaign. Stewart ended the season with five goals and one assist, while starting in all but one game.
The Lions won their sixth overall AMCC Championship this season and hosted their first-ever NCAA Tournament game. Behrend finished with a 16-4-2 record.
