ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend men's soccer team has announced its schedule for the 2014 season. The Lions will kick off the campaign on Friday, August 29 with the Herb Lauffer Memorial Tournament at Behrend. The event also features Baldwin Wallace, Houghton, and Hiram. The Lions won last season's tournament, defeating Bethany and Baldwin Wallace.
On Friday, September 12, Behrend will travel to Chicago, Illinois for the Sal Vaccaro Tournament, opening with North Central Chicago College from the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW). The tournament also features Webster University, who went 14-4-1 last season and advanced to the St. Louis Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SLIAC) Championship game, and Grinnell College out of the Midwest Conference.
The Lions will play 10 home games, seven of which will be played under the lights at the Behrend Field, one of the premiere soccer facilities in the Erie area.
Behrend returns seven starters from a team that went 16-4-1 in 2013, captured the AMCC Tournament Championship, and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.
