BETHANY, WV – The Penn State Behrend women’s swimming team won seven events, including the first four to defeat Bethany 120-86 in non-conference dual-meet action on Saturday afternoon.

The Lions started the meet off with a win in the 200 yard medley relay by the foursome Mary Ellen Spooner, Brittany Tanilli, Anne Lawrence and Julie Cook with a time of 1:59.68. Spooner, Tanilli and Lawrence all went on to earn another first place individually.

Lawrence won the 100 fly with a time of 1:04.43 and Spooner followed in the 100 back, touching in 1:06.76. Tanilli led a 1-2-3 finish in the 100 breaststroke. She clocked in first with a time of 1:14.75, while Cook was second in 1:17.66 and Julia Pfund was third in 1:23.43. Pfund took the top time for Behrend in the 200 IM, coming in second with a time of 2:49.26. She also was third in the 100 free (1:09.71) behind Cook, who was second in 1:01.37.

Katie Van Epps swam to a first-place finish in the 1000 free (12:11.64) to earn the Lions nine points. Hilary MacManus picked up the win in the 200 free. She collected a time of 2:11.33. Rachel Ragen tallied the fourth-straight win to open the meet, touching in the top time of 25.79. Tanilli was third in the same event, coming in 29.27.

The Lions return to action next Saturday at Baldwin-Wallace. Meet begins at 1 p.m.
