ERIE, Pa.  – The Allegheny and Chatham swimming and diving teams defeated Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Saturday at the Junker Center.

The Lions fell to the Gators 88-22 and to the Cougars 80-30. Rachel Ragen was the lone winner for Behrend, posting the top time of 55.25 in the 100 freestyle and also took second in the 50 free in 25.75.

MaryEllen Spooner, Brittany Tanilli, Ragen and Katie Van Epps opened the meet with a third-place finish in the 400 medley relay in 4:19.46. Tanilli came in second in the 200 breaststroke (2:43.29), while Van Epps also took third in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:27.11.

Allegheny’s Molly Durot set a new pool record in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:14.56, breaking the old record of 2:15.56 by former Gator Meg Hiestand back in 2008.

The Lions return to action next Saturday at St. Vincent. Meet time is 1 p.m.
