ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's tennis team will face No. 3 Franciscan in the semifinals of the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) Championships at The Club/Sport & Health in Monroeville, PA on Saturday.

The No. 2 Lions (9-4, 7-1 AMCC) will take on the Barons (10-3, 6-2 AMCC) in the second semifinal match beginning at 5 p.m. The first semifinal match-up has No. 1 seed Pitt-Greensburg (8-2, 7-0 AMCC) facing off against the No. 4 seed Penn State Altoona (7-7, 4-4 AMCC) at 3 p.m.

The two semifinal winners will battle for the AMCC title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The final takes place at 11:30 a.m. on Sunday.

Behrend is looking to capture their 13th overall title crown. Franciscan defeated the Lions in the AMCC finals last season, and now Behrend is looking to even the score in Saturday's semifinal match. The Lions' only conference loss came on October 3, when they dropped a 5-4 game to top-seeded Pitt-Greensburg.

Behrend is led by Alexandra Laffey (Sewickley, PA/North Allegheny) and Malinda Miller (Champion, PA/Connellsville) in singles play. Laffey has a singles record of 12-1 at No. 2 and Miller is a perfect 11-0 at No. 6.

Celeste Bentley (Harborcreek, PA/ Harbor Creek) and Kelly Miller (Louisville, OH/Louisville) have dominated doubles play for the Lions. Playing together, they have not dropped game and have gone a perfect 10-0. Bentely has three other doubles wins to bring her season record to 13-0. Miller adds one win without Bentley, remaining unbeaten at 11-0.
