ERIE, Pa. – The Grove City women's soccer team scored three second half goals over a 15-minute span to post a 3-0 win over Penn State Behrend in non-conference action on Tuesday night.

The Lions (3-5) outshot the Wolverines (4-3-1) 15-2 in the first half, but came away scoreless and Grove City took advantage of five chances and got three goals including one off a rebound from a penalty kick for the win.

Sammie Wild scored an unassisted tally in the 55th minute to give the Wolverines a 1-0 lead. She dribbled from the top corner of the box and buried a shot into the right-side netting to break the tie. Less than two minutes later, Katherine Kouzelos sent a header past Taylor Troyan (Butler, PA/Butler) off a pass from Kristin Thomas to make it 2-0.

Grove City's third goal was scored off a rebounded save by Troyan on a penalty kick. Abby Mathes took the original shot and got her own rebound for a 3-0 margin.

In the first half, Behrend fired off three shots from a corner kick with two coming from Megan Burgdolt (Taylorstown, PA/McGuffey) but they were all blocked by the Wolverine defense.

The Lions had a look from Alex Bilka (Cranberry Township, PA/Seneca Valley), who sent a low shot off the left-side post late in the second half.

Troyan finished with two saves and Nicole Lapia made nine stops to keep Behrend off the scoreboard.

The Lions return to action on Saturday at Penn State Altoona. Game time is 3:15 p.m.
