MEADVILLE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend baseball team was taken down by Allegheny 8-2 in non-conference action Friday afternoon.

The Lions (14-7) were two hit at the hands of Gators (8-9) pitcher Wyatt Sibiga. David Boehme (Venetia, PA/Seton-Le Salle) and Matt Wolczko (Apollo, PA/Kiski) were the lone Behrend hitters to record base knocks in the game. They each scored following their hits.

Allegheny struck first, scoring a run in the bottom of the first, but the Lions would get that run right back in the second. Boehme doubled to lead off the inning and scored after Brandon Bergstrom (Pittsburgh, PA/North Allegheny) reached on a fielder's choice three batters later.

The Gators then had back-to-back three run innings in the third and fourth. They also added one in the fifth to take a promising 8-1 lead.

In the sixth, Wolczko singled to start the frame and stole second. After back-to-back walks, Wolczko scored on a Brian Bohman (Erie, PA/McDowell) sacrifice fly.

Behrend was unable to get any offense going after that. Alex Margraf (Erie, PA/McDowell) reached on an error to start the seventh and the next nine Lion hitters were put down in order to close the game.

Behrend returns to the diamond Wednesday to host D'Youville for a double header at 1 and 4 p.m.
