Sada Named ABCA All-Region Second Team

ERIE, Pa. – Freshman Scott Sada (Saegertown, PA/Saegertown) was named to the 2016 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings NCAA Division III Mideast All-Region Second Team.

The ABCA, founded in 1945, is the primary professional organization for baseball coaches at the amateur level. It's over 8,200 members represent all 50 states and 23 countries. Since its initial meeting of 27 college baseball coaches in June 1945, Association membership has broadened to include eight divisions: NCAA Division I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA, Pacific Association Division, High School and Youth.

The second baseman is earning his second All-Region accolade after being named to the D3baseball.com All-Mideast Region third team on Monday. He is the eighth Lion to earn a spot on the All-Region team in program history.

Sada had an outstanding breakout campaign in his first year at Behrend, receiving First-Team All-AMCC honors. This season, he hit at a .357 mark and led the team in slugging percentage (.555), at bats (182), hits (65) and doubles (25). Sada set a new program record for doubles in a season with 25, breaking the previous record of 23. He also posted a .977 fielding percentage in 176 total chances and was a perfect 12-for-12 stealing bases.

Not only did Sada lead the team at the plate, he was a pivotal closer on the season as well. In six appearances, he picked up two wins and a team-leading four saves. Sada tossed 12.0 innings and posted a 1.50 earned run average.
