Collegiate Baseball Magazine Releases 2023 Player to Watch List

ERIE, Pa – The Penn State Behrend baseball team once again had players tabbed as Players to Watch by Collegiate Baseball Magazine. These three seniors are expected to lead the Behrend Lions in the 2023 season.

Juston Jones (Moon Township, PA/Moon) is the projected starting right fielder and a relief pitcher. Jones hit .294 with 10 doubles, walked 19 times and drove home 38 runners. On the mound he registered a 1-0 mark with 3 saves across five appearances.

Isaac Stouffer (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) returns after earning Division III All-Region honors last season. Stouffer was also an all-league member and carried a slash line of .364/.451/.662 while driving in a team-high 41 runs. His mark in RBIs placed him third in the conference as his .662 slugging percentage ranked second. Stouffer also hit nine home runs.

Right-handed pitcher Jeff Zick (Moon Township, PA/Our Lady of Sacred Heart) was named to the All-AMCC Second Team after leading the conference in ERA at 2.08. Zick allowed just 35 hits in 43.1 innings of work. He compiled 46 total strikeouts to just 15 walks and finished with the fifth-best conference mark in strikeouts per nine innings with a 9.72. 

Penn State Behrend won the 2022 AMCC Regular Season title after capturing the 2021 conference tournament championship and posted a 2-2 record in the NCAA Tournament.

This year's team will embark on a 40-game regular season schedule across 5 different states. They will open the season in Danville, Kentucky for two games against Centre College and one game against Dominican University. The following weekend, the blue and white will travel to Fort Pierce, Florida for their annual spring training trip.
