INDIANA, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend women's track and field team competed at the Ed Fry Invitational at Indiana University of Pennsylvania on Saturday afternoon.
Coming off her record setting outing last week, Haley Hughes (Cochranton, PA/Cochranton) led the Lions with a second place finish in the 3000m steeplechase. Hughes finished with a time of 11:55.60.
In the 400m dash, Victoria Harwood (Fair Haven, NJ/Rumson-Fair Haven) took fourth place after crossing the line at 1:01.54. Zofia Stark (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst Prep.) competed in the 3000m run. Stark took fifth place with a time of 11:03.08.
Katie Spade (Warren, PA/Warren) had a strong performance in the 800m run. The sophomore finished eighth with a time of 2:28.71. In the 5000m run, Catie Bertges (Erie, PA/Collegiate Academy) placed fourth at 18:37.00. Bertges' time was also good enough to qualify for ECAC's.
In the field events, Katie Monoskey (Punxsutawney, PA/Punxsutawney) continued to have an excellent season. Monoskey came in fifth place in the hammer throw with a distance of 39.28m. She also took sixth in the discus at 31.24m. April McDermott (Atco, NJ/Hammonton) also competed in the discus. McDermott came in third place after hitting 32.82m.
Behrend will be back in action on May 5th at the Mason Dixon Championships.
