Behrend Falls Short in First Round of ECAC Tournament

The Penn State Behrend volleyball team fought a tough battle but came up short in their ECAC first round match against St. Vincent on Wednesday, November 11 on the Junker Center floor.  The match lasted the maximum five sets and Behrend was on the losing end 3-2.  Scores for the sets were 25-19, 23-25, 25-27, 25-22 and 11-15.

Sheila Ogden (Grove City/Grove City) posted 11 kills to go along with three blocks while Carissa Johnston (Cambridge Springs/Cambridge Springs) added 14 kills of her own and 20 digs.  Brooke Gallentine (Mt.Pleasant/Southmoreland) dished out 47 assists while junior Danielle Woods (Pittsburgh/Baldwin) had 31 digs as well as four aces.  Freshman Mary Sperry (Atlantic/Conneaut Lake) ended the match with nine kills and 28 digs.

Having played their last match, seniors Ogden, Gallentine and Johnston have ended their Behrend careers with a remarkable record of 94-36.  The blue and white finish the season with an overall record of 22-11.
