ERIE, Pa. – The Penn State Behrend volleyball team went 2-0 in an Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) tri-match on Saturday, defeating both Pitt-Greensburg and La Roche, 3-0. The victories extend the Lions winning streak to five straight matches.
In the first match of the day, the Lions (13-10, 4-2 AMCC) posted scores of 25-13, 25-22 and 25-16 against the Bobcats. Mary Sperry led with 10 digs, nine kills and six aces. Danielle Woods had a team-best 17 digs.
Behrend breezed past La Roche 3-0 (25-13, 25-17, 25-11) in the second match. The Redhawks only earned 11 points on their serve in three games. Jessica Woods and Kelly Treser each tallied six kills and combined for six blocks. Carly Higham handed out 13 assists and D. Woods led with 19 digs.
The Lions return to action Tuesday at Buffalo State. Match time is 7 p.m.
