Lions Fall to St. Vincent in ECAC Tournament

LATROBE, Pa. – The top-seeded St. Vincent volleyball team defeated eighth-seed Penn State Behrend 3-1 in the first round of the Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference (ECAC) Tournament on Wednesday night. 

The Bearcats (23-11) collected their 23rd win of the season in four games over the Lions (19-12). St. Vincent won 25-18, 22-25, 25-23, 25-14. After splitting the first two games, the Bearcats were able to edge Behrend in game three and then convincingly win the fourth and final game for the match. 

Only needing seven digs to move into second on the program’s all-time list, senior Danielle Woods recorded a team-best 30 digs to finish one shy of 1,800. Freshman Kelly Treser knocked down 10 kills and added three blocks, while Jessica Woods tallied eight kills. 

Stefanie Kelley posted 17 digs and Chelsea Magnusen handed out 15 assists. 

It marks the second year in a row Behrend fell to St. Vincent in the first round of postseason play.
