WASHINGTON, D.C. – Danielle Woods recorded a combined 60 digs and Kelly Treser tallied 23 kills in wins over Emory & Henry and NC Wesleyan on day one of the Gallaudet Tournament on Friday.
The Lions blanked Emory & Henry 3-0 (25-20, 25-15, 25-21) and took NC Wesleyan to five games, winning 25-20, 25-17, 23-25, 10-25 and 15-12.
In the first match, Mary Sperry and Treser each knocked down 11 kills. Woods led with 19 digs and Carly Higham tallied 18 assists.
Against NC Wesleyan, Woods posted a season-best 41 digs and four aces. Treser paced the team with 12 kills and four blocks, while Jessica Woods posted 11 kills. Stef Kelley came away with 31 digs and a team-best five aces.
Behrend returns to action on tomorrow on the second day of the tournament. The Lions open up with Catholic at 11 a.m.
