Three Named to All-AMCC Volleyball Team

ERIE, Pa. – Three members of the Penn State Behrend volleyball team were named to the All-Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) team when it was released on Tuesday. Kelly Treser was selected as Newcomer of the Year and named to the first team, while Danielle Woods and Mary Sperry landed on the second team.

Treser, a freshman, played in every match for the Lions and ranked second in kills (236) and in blocks (80). She averaged 2.21 kills per set and knocked down a season-best 16 against Catholic. Treser went four games without an attacking error, hitting a season best 53.3 percent going 8-for-15 at Mt. Aloysius. She also tallied a season-high five blocks on three occasions.

Woods, a four-year starter and known for her serve, led the team in aces with 46 and in digs with 553. In the last match of the season, the senior moved into second place on the all-time career digs list with 1,799. She averaged 5.12 digs per set and had a season-high 41 in a five-set match win over N.C. Wesleyan.

Sperry, who was an All-AMCC honorable mention in 2009, was the front runner in kills for Behrend with 251, averaging 2.41 per set. She also ranked second in digs with 378 and recorded 10 double-doubles for kills and digs in a match. Sperry had a season-high 18 kills against Emersoni and a best 25 digs vs. Ursuline.

The Lions finished the season 19-12, advancing to the AMCC semifinals and then earning their third straight bid to the ECAC Tournament but falling to St. Vincent in the first round 3-1 on Wednesday night.
