FROSTBURG, Md. – The Behrend women’s volleyball team dropped a 3-1 decision to Salisbury and fell 3-0 to Frostburg State in a non-conference tri-match on Saturday afternoon at Frostburg.
The Sea Gulls recorded a 25-21, 19-25, 25-22 and 25-20 victory in game one, while the Bobcats swept the Lions (5-7) 25-12, 25-18, 25-23.
Against Salisbury, Behrend won the second game but came eight points shy of the win. Stephanie Kelley and Mary Sperry combined for 19 kills. Kelley had 10, while Sperry knocked down nine to go with 14 digs. Danielle Woods collected 24 digs and three aces.
In the nightcap, the former AMCC rival Frostburg did not skip a beat since leaving the conference. The Bobcats last defeated the Lions 3-1 in the 2009 AMCC Championship game. Woods was the statistics leader with 10 digs and six kills. Kelly Treser and Alyssa Pears each tallied four kills.
Carly Higham was the setter in game two, recording 10 assists.
Behrend returns to action Wednesday night at Pitt-Bradford. Match time is 7 p.m.
