ALTOONA, Pa. – Holly Bourquin (Pittsburgh, PA/Fox Chapel) shot 7-for-9 from the floor for a game high 15 points to lead the Penn State Behrend women's basketball team past Penn State Altoona 62-33 in Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) action on Saturday.

The Lions (5-1, 2-0 AMCC) built a 13-point lead after the first half and then held Altoona to just 10 points in the second stanza to collect their second straight conference victory.

Aly Eagle (Harmony, PA/Seneca Valley) drained three triples to contribute nine points and Julia Myers (Edinboro, PA/General McLane) grabbed seven rebounds to go with eight points. Brittany Wilwohl (Erie, PA/Villa Maria Academy) added five assists and Kimmy Pol (Erie, PA/Central) made four steals in the win.

Altoona took advantage of the slow start by Behrend after the opening whistle, taking a 7-0 lead in the first two minutes and forcing the Lions to miss its first four shots.

The Lions responded with a 9-2 spurt to knot the game at 9-all but Altoona would regain the lead on a three-pointer by Tiffany Seasoltz. That lead stood until the 8:33 mark and a trey by Eagle turned the game around for Behrend, sparking an 18-6 run to end the half and a 36-23 advantage. Bourquin tallied eight of her 15 points in the final seven minutes.

Behrend kept the offense going and clamped down on the defense in the second half. The Lions also started out the half much different than the first, hitting four straight from the floor from four different players to take a 21-point lead.

Behrend shot 42.5 percent from the field while Altoona only connected on 14 field goals for 25.5 percent shooting.

Ally Burke (Erie, PA/Mercyhurst) recorded her first collegiate points on the afternoon, adding three points and two rebounds.

The Lions return home on Wednesday against Hilbert. Game time is 7 p.m.
